“Beautiful Day” should really be called Mr. Rogers. I painted this piece while listening to an NPR segment on Mr. Rogers. Mr. Rogers did a lot of good in this world and I think my gratitude flowed as I was experimenting on a technique that I now use frequently, which is adding color and scraping excess paint at different dry times to get thin or thick adherence. I also used for the first time an all over black wash that was scraped off with a squeegee. I love this piece and I feel the greens and rich deep pinks/reds express the positive emotions I was feeling when I painted “Beautiful Day”.
